“Another parable He set forth before them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while he was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed also darnel (weeds resembling wheat) among the wheat, and went on his way.”
Matthew 13:24-25 AMPC
The eighth month has been quite something on my end; plenty of emotions to process and unpack.
Then again, an intense one as this season’s change of guard doubled as a supernatural action too.
The change of guards has been ongoing for the past few months, new wineskins for the new wine being poured out.
In a way it felt like birthing, a round one to the promises God gave way before we had a better understanding of what He’s working on; truth is we receive in part.
The bit of scripture that was consistently playing in my mind through July and this month was:
‘…as the watchmen slept, the enemy came…’
That really reinforced the fear of God in me;
A wake up call from a laxity that was threatening to take over.
Then came what felt like constant cues on the importance/sensitive nature of the burden that is being a watchman over God’s people.
You don’t get to be casual about a heads-up or warnings nor the heaviness that chooses to be unsettling.
It had me going back to God’s instructions to Ezekiel:
““You, son of man, are the watchman.
I’ve made you a watchman for Israel.
The minute you hear a message from me, warn them.
If I say to the wicked, ‘Wicked man, wicked woman, you’re on the fast track to death!’ and you don’t speak up and warn the wicked to change their ways, the wicked will die unwarned in their sins and I’ll hold you responsible for their bloodshed. But if you warn the wicked to change their ways and they don’t do it, they’ll die in their sins well-warned and at least you will have saved your own life.”
Ezekiel 33:7-9 MSG
The roar ushering this new season has been quite loud: A season that entails tearing down anything that isn’t of/for Him and building up what is for His glory.
Papa has His people out here pursuing that which is no mean feat; He, however, has us equipped.
IT IS THE RETURNING OF OLD: back to factory settings if I may.
• Where prophets were summoned in palaces to give counsel to Kings before they made any decisions.
• Where a nation would inquire of the Lord before heading out for battle whether to pursue restoration or to gain ground.
• Where Kings would call out for corporate repentance and fasts for their land/ people to be healed.
• Where there was a recognition of God being Ruler over His own and the Kings acting as proxy.
• Where there was a precedence and mandate tasked to each King, building to a whole.
• Where watchmen arise giving honor to authority present but not shy to speak any rebuke as sent by God.
A constant nudge that Kingdom government is in operation.
This right here means the notion that we need to press pause, ‘ndiyo nilambe glucose tuendelee’, might not be the best approach to it.
It’s a sobering cue that it is our lifestyle, leaning on the sufficiency in Christ Jesus.
A demand placed over us for greater discernment, vision like that of an 🦅, immense wisdom, a deeper sensitivity and sons of Issachar arising to occupy.
The equipping is done for the work ahead and in accelerated crash courses for hungry ones willing to surrender and count the cost.
This one is for us, a prompting that there’s much more at stake than it seems.
The birthing of an awakening comes at a great cost, that is ours to pay and usher an intolerance of slumber.
The arising of Josiah’s, bold enough to stand for what is of God.
Thus that pause button for now needs to be forgotten, surround yourself with a community pursuing the same matter.
In there you will reignite each other’s fires in pursuit of what we have been called to do.
As my high school chaplain would tirelessly remind us at every opportunity she got;
I have truly come to appreciate the depth of this truth:
“Then I beheld and considered it well;
I looked and received instruction.
Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep
– So shall your poverty come as a robber,
and your want as an armed man.”
